Place & Maker

Privacy.

Place & Maker is a directory of independent makers. We keep as little about you as we can, we never sell it, and you can ask us to remove it at any time.

If you sign up on the coming soon page

We keep the email address you give us, and anything else you add: your ZIP code, and if you’re a maker, your name, what you make, a link to your work and who told you about us. We also note the country your connection comes from. We use this only to invite you, or to write once when the atlas opens.

If you make a maker page

We keep your email address so you can sign in with a code, and the details you choose to put on your page. Your email address is never shown on the site. Your page shows only what you add to it.

Counting visits

We count how many people look at each maker’s page and click through to their shop, so makers and we can see what’s working. We do this ourselves, without advertising or tracking cookies, and without keeping IP addresses. For each visit we keep only the page, the time and, if there was one, the website the visitor came from.

Cookies

The site sets a cookie only to keep you signed in, or, if you’re a maker, to remember that you asked us not to count visits from your device.

Who helps us run the site

A few trusted services help us run the site: hosting, data storage, email and a check that keeps bots out of our forms. Each handles your information only to do that job.

Removing your information

Write to hello@placeandmaker.com and we’ll remove it. The same address answers any question about this page.
