Community guidelines.

Place & Maker is for people who make things with their own hands, in their own place, and sell them themselves.

What belongs here

Your own handmade work, shown honestly. The question is always the same: did the person named make it? If so, it’s welcome, whatever the medium.

What doesn’t

• Embellished blanks: a bought mug, shirt, tumbler or candle with a design or label added
• Work that was generated rather than made, such as AI images, designs or words sold as the work
• Print-on-demand
• Wholesale and resale, including goods bought from other makers
• Kits, and work assembled from commercial kits or plans
• Services, and food and drink

Using software as a tool while you make is your business. The promise is about the thing on the shelf.

Be honest and be kind

Use your real name or studio name and your real town. Only post photos and words you own or have permission to use. No hateful or harassing content, no spam, and no copying another maker’s work or name.

How decisions are made

Blonnie looks over every maker and place herself. If something isn’t a fit, she’ll say so kindly and explain why. Not being a fit for the atlas says nothing about the worth of your work.

If something looks wrong

Use the Report link on a page. Every report is read, and the person who sent it stays private. A listing may be paused while we look into it, and we’ll give the maker a chance to answer. If two makers disagree about copied work, we’ll ask both for their side. If it’s your own work that was taken, use our takedown page.
